Everyone shows up for the death? But who’s showing up to the “living?”

 

My mom once said that for some people going to funerals is their favorite pastime. It made me consider all the ways we will show up for death, especially when we are stuck. Whether it’s the death of a relationship, the death of our hopes or the death of an era, we will REALLY show up! 

 

We will lament, ruminate, and revisit our hurts, pains and transgressions. We will replay dark times and recreate dark spaces. 

 

It has me wondering what would happen if I showed up for my living in the same way. What if I paid homage to my hopes and dreams? 

 

What if I recreated my successes? 

 

What would happen if I revisited the possibilities and executed?

 

Could my mourning become a new morning?

 

This year, I’m going to show up for my living!
