And If This Is the Last Day
June 30, 2024
If you knew today was the last day, would you allow yourself to be ruled by fear? Would you still hold onto the grudge? Would you still struggle to apologize or struggle with the apology you never received?
Of all the things you are holding, would you still hold onto shame, fear or grief?
If this was the last day, would you be the last to:
-call
-say I’m sorry
-forgive
Would you move from dreaming and wishing to action?
Would you spend the last day living?
Would you finally say what you have been thinking?
Would you finally do what you have been hoping?
Would you finally:
-be honest?
-be happy?
-be satisfied?
-BE?
If the answer is yes to any of these questions, let today be the last day!
Let today be the last day you settle for living a life below your dreams!
Often we believe that we have time. We believe that we have the luxury of holding out, holding on, and holding in. We hold out for others to apologize first. We hold on to our hurts no matter how toxic. We hold in how we really feel, our expectations and desires.
We wait for the clock to strike “perfect” as if there is some precise time for us to be happy or start.
We tell ourselves someone else has to go first, as we live as though it’s not okay to put ourselves first.
We hunger for acceptance but we won’t give it to ourselves. We hope others will finally realize:
-what we need from them
-what we think
-how we feel
We do this while neglecting to realize that it is nearly impossible to meet an unstated need, desire or hope.
So today I encourage you to live this week like it’s your last. I want you to:
1. Forgive everyone you need to forgive
2. Apologize to everyone that believes you owe them an apology; it will cost you nothing
3. Decide to be happy
4. Accept yourself without exception
5. Love without restraint
6. Experience joy
7. Laugh heartily
8. Dwell in peace
9. Have gratitude
10. Be excited
Let’s make today the last day we do otherwise!
